Cody Reaves has significant experience representing individuals and corporations in all stages of litigation. He has led the briefing in victories before the Supreme Court of the United States, authored dozens of briefs and dispositive motions in federal appellate and trial courts, and litigated disputes for Fortune 100 companies through trial. Beyond critical litigation matters, Cody uses his broad regulatory experience to advise clients facing novel or complex legal questions, including issues arising in agency-facing civil disputes and challenges to agency rulemaking.

Before joining Torridon, Cody worked in the Supreme Court, Appellate, and Litigation Strategies and Regulatory Litigation groups at a major international law firm in Washington, D.C. He led the successful merits briefing before the Supreme Court in United States v. Fischer (2024), and served as the principal drafter of the briefing in Fields v. Colorado (2025), securing a grant of the petition, vacatur of the decision below, and remand. One prominent legal writing expert has lauded Cody’s briefs as better than the typical work product of “elite” Supreme Court advocates.

In the appellate and trial courts, clients have trusted Cody with their most complex and high-stakes cases. He served on the lead trial team for a Fortune 100 company in a multibillion-dollar, multi-defendant bench trial in federal court, and successfully represented an American manufacturer of food products in obtaining dismissal of a multimillion-dollar class action lawsuit alleging unlawful business practices and deceptive advertising. Cody routinely litigates against the government, including in matters challenging state and federal agency actions and regulations. He successfully briefed and argued a motion to suppress evidence in a criminal case against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, leading to settlement on the eve of trial. Cody also led the briefing in a suit against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, obtaining dismissal of the complaint in part and ultimately driving the case to settlement.

Cody maintains an active pro bono practice. He has authored amicus briefs in high-profile First Amendment and religious liberties cases at the Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit recently appointed Cody under the Criminal Justice Act to brief and argue a complex habeas appeal.

Earlier in his career, Cody served as a law clerk to Judge Deborah L. Cook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
