Former Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette Joins Torridon Group LLC as Co-Chairman

WASHINGTON, DC – The strategic advisory firm, Torridon Group LLC, is pleased to announce that Dan Brouillette, former U.S. Secretary of Energy, is joining the firm as its Co-Chairman and is also joining its related law firm, Torridon Law PLLC, as a Senior Advisor. Secretary Brouillette brings over three decades of experience in the public and private sector, including service in the Trump administration as the 15th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Under his leadership as Secretary of Energy and, prior to that, as the Deputy Secretary of the Department, the United States became a net energy exporter for the first time in three generations. Secretary Brouillette is widely credited for his role in helping stabilize global oil markets during the COVID-19 pandemic, and for facilitating the first-ever ministerial-level energy meetings between Israel and key Middle Eastern nations. He also led transformative advancements in supercomputing, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum information science (QIS) research, and grid-scale energy storage. For his exemplary service and diplomatic achievements, Brouillette received Distinguished Public Service Medals from both the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State, the highest individual honor awarded by each Department.

More recently, Secretary Brouillette was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. EEI’s members provide electricity for nearly 250 million Americans and operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Additionally, EEI’s membership also includes more than 70 international electric companies with operations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Before his tenure at EEI, Secretary Brouillette served as President of Sempra Infrastructure, a globally recognized multinational firm specializing in the construction and operation of liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminals, pipeline networks, and renewable electricity generation facilities. There he was instrumental in transforming the company from a regional LNG and pipeline operator into a global energy powerhouse, spearheading major projects such as the $10 billion Port Arthur LNG export facility which, upon completion, will be one of the largest in the United States.

Prior to his most recent return to government service, Secretary Brouillette held senior executive roles at Ford Motor Company and USAA, as well as other senior positions in government. He was Chief of Staff to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce, which has broad jurisdictional and oversight authority over five Cabinet-level Federal agencies. He also served as an Assistant Secretary of Energy from 2001 to 2003 and as a state energy regulator, having served as a member of the Louisiana State Mineral and Energy Board from 2013 to 2016. An Army veteran, Brouillette was a tank commander with the highly decorated 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Secretary Brouillette joins Torridon Group’s other members, including former Attorney General William P. Barr, former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, former Time Warner General Counsel Paul T. Cappuccio, former three-time Fortune 50 CFO Mike Kelly, and former Facebook General Counsel Ted Ullyot.

Former Attorney General William P. Barr said, “Dan Brouillette is a proven leader with an exceptional track record in both the public and private sectors. Having served alongside him in the Cabinet, I had the opportunity to witness his ability to navigate complex challenges with sound judgment and long-term vision. His deep understanding of energy markets, corporate strategy, and global risk makes him an invaluable addition to Torridon. I’m thrilled to welcome him to the firm as we continue to build a world-class advisory platform.”

Former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone said, “We are honored to have Secretary Brouillette join the leadership of Torridon Group. He brings exceptional skills and experience, and a long record of service, leadership, and success at the highest levels of government and business.”

On joining Torridon, Secretary Brouillette said, “Torridon Group brings together an unparalleled team of leaders with deep expertise in business, finance, and governance. Throughout my career, I have seen how thoughtful leadership and decisive action can shape industries, and I’m excited to bring that perspective to Torridon’s clients at a time of unprecedented change in global markets.”
